Asked about playing under Spain manager Julen Lopetegui, Isco said,as quoted by Marca

“He shows his confidence in me with the number of minutes and games he gives me.

“At Real Madrid I don’t have the kind of confidence that a footballer needs; maybe the problem is me and it’s just the way it is with the amount of good footballers there are there. Of course, I want to show Zidane I can be counted on.”

“When a player isn’t a key part of his team or isn’t getting regular games, it’s matches like these with the national side that give you life,” Isco said.

“The boss here (Lopetegui) believes in me, I’m happy to work hard, improve to try and become a starter for club and country. I want to show I’m a good player.”

Isco was a key player at the start of the season for Real Madrid but after suffering a hip injury in late January and with Bale’s return to full fitness, he has been struggling for a regular run in the side. The midfielder started 18 games from 29 games in La Liga and completed full 90 minutes just 4 times and since his return from injury he has just started 3 games.

The 25 year old was recently linked with to move to Manchester City, who are willing to pay ÂŁ75 million for him. Spanish media suggesting Madrid is ready to cash in on him and with Isco unhappy about his play time, it looks likely the Spanish will be leaving the club after World Cup.

Isco has scored seven goals and registered as many assists in 40 games across all competitions this season.
