Arsenal midfielder, Jack Wilshere, is likely to miss up to three months with a new ankle injury sustained against Manchester United on Saturday evening.

The Englishman fell awkwardly on his ankle, which has caused him problems all his career, and despite trying to continue, was forced off minutes later.

During yesterday’s press conference, Arsene Wenger was asked about Wilshere, and the Frenchman confirmed that he is set to see a specialist next week to find out more information, but at first expection, it doesn’t look good for the 22-year-old, who has been seen wearing a protective boot.

“It does not look good,” said Wenger. “There is no bone damage, we knew that straight away after the game, but there is ligament damage.

“I hope it will not be surgery just in a boot. But it will be a few weeks. It is so sad because he just came back.

“You see in the big games he has the personality. It is more about his game, it shows you he is not scared to play and is ready to want to get the ball always.”
