Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has admitted that midfielder Jack Wilshere is prepared to sacrifice himself and play out of position, if it means helping out the team.

A lot of the attention has recently been on both Aaron Ramsey and Mesut Ozil, but Wenger has still gone out of his way to praise Wilshere and has admitted that he is playing out of position in order to help the team out.

Wilshere, who is normally deployed as an attacking-midfielder, has been sitting back a lot more in the last few games and that is to allow both Ramsey and Ozil to free-roam ahead of him and behind striker Olivier Giroud.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Wenger praised the youngster’s attitude and revealed that in the near-future, he will get a chance to free-roam a lot more.

“Jack is always ready to sacrifice himself for the team and that is absolutely fantastic,” Wenger told Arsenal Player.

“It [the left flank] is not his best position, we all know that. But he has a lot of freedom to move inside and he plays a little bit in the Cazorla role. He does that well.

“I think he will benefit from that transitional period there and physically he will become much stronger. He needs that.

“Overall, he is very disciplined as well. He can do the physical job on the flanks. It’s the hardest job today in the modern game and he does that very well. I’m very pleased with his performances.
