Jack Wilshere believes he could emulate Ross Barkley’s performance to find his way back into the England team.
Wilshere’s persistent injury problems have been a big barrier in his development and it has had an adverse effect on his football career. The talented midfielder has all the attributes what a top midfielder should have but despite his versatility the former Arsenal midfielder hasn’t been able to justify his talent so far.
The 26 year old started four games in the Premier League before he needed an ankle surgery which saw him missing the rest of the games so far. The midfielder is facing a race against time and could be fit in time to face Manchester City.
Ross Barkley had similar injury problems had to struggle for a place in the Chelsea lineup. But his resurgence in the Blues shirt helped him in reestablishing his position in the Three Lions team.
“It all comes down to having trust in your own ability. People can say what they want. Ross is the perfect example.
“I’m so happy for him. He’s a good friend of mine and we were together at the World Cup in Brazil.
“He has always been a great player and sometimes it takes time for players to find their feet. Obviously, he moved clubs and you can also pick up a few injuries. But then it all comes down to him, his inner belief and, at the end of the day, his football ability has done the talking.
“I’ve always been confident and believed in myself. That is important in football because you can go through tough times. But if you always believe in yourself, you let your football do the talking.”
