Jack Wilshere is very keen to help West Ham United fulfilling their European dream.

The midfielder was supposed to miss the entire season following an ankle injury and has been on a recovery mode since December when he featured for a five minute cameo against Newcastle United. But the 27 year old has started training and could feature in some games.

The former Arsenal midfielder has had his history of long injuries and he was expected to spend the remainder of the season on the sidelines. His absence proved to be a boon as Manuel Pellegrini has used Declan Rice alongside Mark Noble in the middle of the pitch and the pair has done remarkable job so far as the Hammers are standing on the brink of a European return.

They are currently in ninth place and Wilshere believes he can help his side. “That is the plan. I am back in full training – it has been a long time, frustrating but it was something I had to do after speaking to the specialists.

“I am trying to get fit [but] it is not a great time to come back because you get fully fit, maybe play a couple of games and then the season finishes.

“It is going to be a big off-season for me as well but I am feeling good and I want to play again this [season].”
