Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho has been handed a brand new four year contract at the club. The 18 year old has extended his stay until 2022.
The former Manchester City winger has set up five goals this season, the highest in any of the European leagues so far. He has been limited to a mere 124 minutes of game time in the Bundesliga this season but has managed to attract the attention with his swift energetic display.
After coming through the Watford academy the youngster made his first big steps as he went on to join the English champions Manchester City. Pep Guardiola is regarded as one of the best nurturers of young talents but despite making his name at the City academy the youngster had gone frustrated over the lack of his playing time.
In 2017 the player rejected the chance of renewing his stay and Dortmund poached him away for a paltry £8m. The youngster has been used as a super sub by manager Lucien Favre as all of his appearances have been from the bench.
Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc said, ”Jadon Sancho is without doubt one of the most exciting players in Europe.
‘This contract extension acknowledges the extremely positive development he’s made.”
Sancho also expressed his gratitude. ”I’m so happy that I chose to come to Dortmund a year ago. Everything I was hoping for has come true: this city loves football like no other, and at BVB young players get regular playing time
