Borussia Dortmund have been dealt a huge blow ahead of their Champions League tie against Manchester City.
Jadon Sancho is set to miss the game next Tuesday against his former side.
“With Jadon, we hope that the situation with him will change in the next seven to ten days,” Eintracht Frankfurt, manager Edin Terzić said in his pre-match press conference.
Sancho missed all of England’s World Cup qualifiers against San Marino, Albania, and Poland. He won’t return on time for the quarter-final first at the Etihad Stadium. Fans were greatly anticipating his return to Manchester, where he last played before breaking out as a star in Germany.
There is still a strong connection between him and the English city. Manchester City’s direct rivals, Manchester United were strongly competing for his signature last summer. It was only in the final moments when the transfer fell through.
Right now, the Red Devils have cooled on their interest in the 21-year-old. Fabrizio Romano understands that United might be considering other transfers at the moment. Erling Haaland is available this summer with his agents already listening to offers.
Manchester United expect Jadon Sancho to be available for a lower price this summer. Other clubs are interested in Sancho, and United will make a decision before the end of the season on whether to go for him, or to go for a different kind of striker. #MUFC [@FabrizioRomano]
