Crystal Palace midfielder James McArthur has committed his long term future to the club but penning a new three year deal. The midfielder has extended his stay at the Selhurst Park until the end of the 2020-21 campaign.

The 30 year old has been involved in all the five games and has emerged a key player for Roy Hodgson. The midfielder arrived at the club from Wigan Athletic four years ago and has gone onto appear in more than 130 games for the East London side.

The Scotland international is an integral part of the current side and was influential in the last match as his side notched their second win of the campaign against Huddersfield Town.

McArthur expressed his happiness on signing a new contract. “I’m excited about the challenges that come. The manager has brought the best out of me from last season, and I really enjoy playing under him.

“We need to take one game at a time. We know it is going to be tough, the Premier League is tough.

“The manager has put together a very good squad, where there is competition for places all over the field. I think we will get stronger and stronger.”
