Midfielder was set on Anfield

James Milner has celebrated his first anniversary of being a Liverpool player by revealing that he rejected THIRTEEN clubs to move to Anfield last summer.

Milner, who is now 30, was a popular man last summer when he left Manchester City. But, according to his career-long advisor Matthew Buck, there was only one winner when Milner sat down to consider his options and happily signed on the dotted line for ex-Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers.

Buck, who works for the PFA, said: “From January onwards we had interest from Italy and Spain. In total about 14 clubs made contact.

“For James it’s been a great move and hopefully he can put that right this season and bring some silverware to the club. He’s 30 but is always learning and embracing things.”

Milner retired from international football after Euro 2016 to focus on his club career and let younger talent take the stage under Sam Allerdyce.
