James Milner urged to snub move away

Manchester City manager, Manuel Pellegrini, has urged James Milner to stay at the club and reject interest from Arsenal and Liverpool.

The Englishman is coming to the end of his current contract at the Etihad Stadium, and with no extension talks in the pipeline, the midfielder could leave the club on a free in the next few months.

Milner has been a crucial part of the City midfield this season and has finally become a permanent figure in the starting XI and match-day squad.

However, with his contract expiring and his future less than certain, Pellegrini is hopeful that he will sign a new deal and snub interest from Premier League rivals.

Pellegrini said: “To sign a contract, you need both parties.

“I repeat, the club want Milner to stay here and Milner has to decide what he wants to do with his future.

“Milner scored a beautiful goal but for us the most important thing is the way he works for 90 minutes.”
