The midfielder has claimed that he could leave the Spanish giants next month

James Rodriguez has hinted that his time at Real Madrid might be coming to an end, by claiming that he ‘cannot assure’ anyone that he will not leave the club in January.

The midfielder has been the subject of interest from several top European clubs for months now and it seems as if now could be a good time to sign the Colombia international, as he appears to be seriously considering a move away from Spain.

Several Premier League sides have been linked with Chelsea and Man United both believed to be keeping a close eye on the situation to see how it develops.

With this latest news from the player, they could both decide to launch official bids for the player when the winter transfer window opens.

Lack of first-team football

The 25-year old joined Madrid back in 2014 after a hugely successful World Cup for his national team. He impressed fans all around the world with his impressive displays for Colombia and those performances earned him a huge move to La Liga.

However, over recent seasons he has struggled to feature regularly for Real Madrid, with several world-class players all battling to secure a starting spot in each position. It has meant that Rodriguez has often had to watch from the sidelines while others play instead of him.

It now appears that he has had enough of watching and wants more gametime, as he appears ready to up sticks and leave the club in pursuit of more regular football.

Chelsea and Man United would no doubt be eager to land the midfielder and he would likely get a lot more first-team action if he joined either of those two sides.

But, they aren’t alone in wanting the Colombia star, with several teams in Italy also linked as well as PSG, who with their massive amounts of money could offer Rodriguez not only consistent gametime but whatever wage he wants.

Therefore, the two Premier League sides could have a huge battle on their hands to land the player in January.
