Simon Mignolet and Alberto Moreno are not good enough, claims Jamie Carragher
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has urged Jurgen Klopp to replace Simon Mignolet and Alberto Moreno over the summer.
The duo have come under severe scrutiny in recent months, especially Mignolet, and Carragher continued to question them following yesterday’s Capital One Cup defeat to Manchester City.
Despite making some heroic saves to deny Sergio Aguero throughout the final, Mignolet was at fault for the Fernandinho goal, as he was beaten from a tight angle, and Moreno also took some of the blame for the goal.
Speaking after the game at Wembley, Carragher didn’t hold back when discussing the duo and he was adamant that Klopp needs to change the duo over the summer.
Carragher Blasts Duo
‘The left-back [Moreno] has to come out of the team, this is not a one-off today in terms of the goal,’ said Carragher.
‘Jon Flanagan has come back fit and has to go into the team in midweek, he has to chance the left-back.
‘Flanagan played left-back when they nearly won the league. He can’t be worse than him [Moreno].
‘The goalkeeper has made some outstanding saves today, but just because you make some outstanding saves doesn’t mean you should be allowed to concede a goal like that.
‘The mistake is shocking. You can’t score from there. And that is not just today.
‘Going forward for Liverpool, those are two areas Jurgen Klopp has to change in the summer.’
‘The goalkeeper may have signed a five-year deal, and he has made some good saves today, but things have to change.’
