Jamie Redknapp feels Manchester City midfielder David Silva can be likened to Andres Iniesta and Xavi.
Pep Guardiola is an avid admirer of the player and even admitted he had tried to bring the player during his time at Barcelona. Silva produced another masterclass as he inspired a brilliant Manchester City display to overcome their noisy neighbours in an emphatic 3-1 win over Manchester United.
This victory has put them in a commanding position in the Premier League as they are now adrift of two points from second placed Liverpool. The Sky Blues broke the 100 points barrier last season and given their current form they are looking even more ferocious this time scoring goals after goals.
Redknapp said, “There were so many things to admire.
“When I think about players of his quality, I think of Iniesta and Xavi, and his performance today was at that level
“The stat I really like is the 56 passes in the opposition half. That tells me that his game is now evolving and getting better.
“He knows that by getting into those positions and by getting further up the pitch, he can affect the game.
“He has that vital last pass and passes with purpose and penetration and does it so well. There’s so many good things that he does.
“His touch map sums it up. He was everywhere, he ran the game from start to finish and was so impressive.
“He just seems to be getting better and better.”
