Leicester City face a nervous summer as striker has clause
Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy could face an uncertain future over the summer after it has been revealed that his contract has a buy-out clause of £30million.
The Foxes star, who has been in red-hot form so far this season, signed a new three-year deal earlier this year, believed to be worth £80k-a-week, but it has now been revealed that in that contract was a buy-out clause.
Vardy was a wanted man in January, with Chelsea and Manchester United both reportedly interested in signing him, but with Leicester fighting for the Premier League title, the England international stayed put at the King Power Stadium.
Buy-out Clause
Although they look likely to go on and win the title and also be in the Champions League next season, Vardy still faces an uncertain future due to the clause in his contract.
Leicester will have an anxious summer waiting to see if any clubs activate the striker’s buy-out clause.
Vardy has scored 19 Premier League goals so far this season, which included a record-breaking run of goals in consecutive games, beating Ruud Van Nistelrooy‘s long-standing record.
