Jan Vertonghen Feels This Tottenham Hotspur Side Deserve Trophies

Jan Vertonghen believes it would be an injustice if this Tottenham Hotspur side doesn’t win a trophy.

Spurs bowed out of the Carabao Cup as they faltered once again in their quest to a major trophy. Chelsea got the better of them as the Blues knocked down their London rivals in a penalty shootout.

Mauricio Pochettino has done a brilliant work since his induction to the Premier League but the North Londoners have made a habit of messing it up on the big stages.

Despite keeping the pressure on the top two in the Premier league two defeats in the last five matches have left them much behind in the title race. Spurs cannot afford any more slip ups otherwise they would lose all the leverages as it stands.

Vertonghen said, “It’s very important. It’s such a shame. This team deserves so much more, so many trophies. But this league is so competitive.

‘There are so many teams out there competing for a rare prize. Over the last five years, we haven’t had a lot of luck. We’ve been so good, I’ve seen this team grow to the level we are at now.

“It would be a big shame if we don’t reward ourselves, this team. Everyone in the club deserves that reward.”
