Janssen to Tottenham?
22 year old Dutch international, Vincent Janssen, is a wanted man by both Manchester United and Spurs.
An exceptional first season saw the Dutchman make 34 appearances whilst scoring 27 goals, making him the Eredivise top scorer. His style of play is something that would suit the Premier League. The AZ Alkmaar forward’s main attributes are his strength, resulting in exceptional hold up play, pace and finishing.
The striker himself has been open with what he wants for his future in football. He is quoted to say ‘I’d like to start somewhere else to prepare as soon as possible’, in response to the £16.5 million bid from the North London club.
Pochettino has already revealed that he is in the market for a striker this window. Current Spurs striker, Harry Kane, made an appearance in 50 of Tottenham’s games last season, and with him being a key part in England’s Euro 2016 campaign, it’s clear to see that the Argentine manager wants a fresh pair of legs, avoiding Kane burning out.
Last month, it’s understood that Janssen spent two days in London, meeting with possible future manager Maurcio Pochettino, at Tottenham’s training facility.
Spurs have also been linked with Lyon frontman, Alexandre Lacazette. However, Premier League interest is likely to massively inflate his transfer fee, whereas AZ are rumoured to be happy to accept a £17 million bid for Janssen after previously snubbing an £11 million offer from the North London side.
Many different clubs have shown interest in the 22-year old, such as German side Wolfsburg. However, Janssen has made it clear where he would like to end up by the end of this window; ‘I have expressed my choice to the club. In my opinion, Spurs bid a high amount.’
In addition, there has been reports suggesting that West Ham and Manchester United are also keen on the Dutch international. However, there has been no firm offer from either clubs.
