Youngster tells Mourinho he wants to go

Adnan Januzaj has told Jose Mourinho he wants to leave Manchester United for good.

The youngster, who was once tipped to become one of the best wingers in world football, wants a fresh start after fading into obscurity at Old Trafford.

That is according to the Daily Mail, who say that though the player was told he could leave on loan, the Belgian international would rather start afresh somewhere else.

Januzaj was once a symbol of the club’s future, a rare shining light from David Moyes’ turbulent time in charge.

He was named on the substitutes bench in Sir Alex Ferguson’s final game in charge, and made his debut in a 2-0 win over Wigan in the Community Shield in 2013.

A stunning brace against Sunderland then propelled him further into the spotlight, with the club managing to fight off interest from Paris Saint-Germain to get him to pen a five year contract.

However, the arrival of Louis van Gaal saw him fail to build on his earlier promise.

He spent a year on loan last season in Germany, playing for Borussia Dortmund, where he was criticized by manager Thomas Tuchel for his attitude.
