Jesus postpones contract talks until after World Cup

Gabriel Jesus has rejected new contract offer form Manchester City and wants to wait until the summer to open fresh contract talks with club.

According to The Times, Manchester City has offered a new contract offer to Jesus which is believed to be around £90,000-a-week deal. This new deal is a 40 percent increase on his current deal. But the striker has rejected the offer and wants to begin the negotiations only after the World Cup as he wants to focus on the preparations for the World Cup now.

It is also reported that Jesus at least wants £100,000 per week and that’s why he rejected the current offer and wants to start new fresh contract talks with the club in summer.

Manchester City is believed to be quite impressed by the Brazilian since he joined them last January and wants to reward him for his impressive performances. He proved to be a decent cover for City’s star striker Aguero and has scored 18 goals and assisted 10 for them since his arrival. That’s why City are eager to offer him a new contract despite signing him last January.

Though Jesus rejected new contract offer but it is thought that he will eventually go on to sign a one year contract extension with the club.

Gabriel Jesus joined Manchester City from Palmeiras on a 4 year contract in January 2017. Reported fee was £27 million.
