Joel Campbell to be given Arsenal chance

Striker scored twice in Costa Rica’s 3-1 win over Uruguay

Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Joel Campbell will get his chance at Arsenal next season.

Campbell, whp spent last season on loan at Greek side Olympiakos scored twice as Costa Rica beat Uruguay in a shock 3-1 win.

The striker has previously stated his desire to retiurn to the Emirates following the win.

He stated to the Costa Rican media.

Of course I have to go back, because I have a contract with Arsenal.

“The most important thing just now is my country and the World Cup.

“Today was excellent for me, but it would have come to nothing without the contribution of my team-mates.

“Everyone lived up to their responsibilities. I tried to do my best to score goals and my colleagues supported me.

“We have to take one step after another. We have difficult matches ahead, but this will give us impetus.”

And Arsene Wenger confirmed that he will be in his plans for the forthcoming season.

Wenger is in Brazil to do some Media work for French Television, and stated that Campbell is set to feature next season.

‘He will definitely come back to us for pre-season,’ Wenger told the Daily Mail. ‘He is maturing well.’
