Joel Matip has insisted Liverpool are not underestimating Everton but they are oozing with confidence prior to Merseyside derby.
Marco Silva has had a great start to his Everton career guiding to the Toffees to the sixth place. Three losses from the first twelve boasted their confidence and Liverpool could expect a more severe test this time.
Jurgen Klopp’s side too are the team to beat as they are yet to lose this season in the Premier League. The Reds will come into the game with a dominating win over Watford while Everton managed to see out Cardiff City with a 1-0 victory.
Over the years the Merseyside derby saw Liverpool dominating most of the time but this time Everton are expected to put up a good fight.
Matip said, “At the moment we are on a run and we will try to continue it but there is a long season to go.
“They have a lot of quality in their team and this will be no clear game but we are positive, we have enough confidence from the last games.”
“In a city like Liverpool a derby is a big game,
“There are only Reds or Blues in the city and it will be a hard game for everyone in the town.
“A lot of people speak to you and are talking about the derby. It’s a special week before the game and everybody is looking forward to it.”
