Chelsea and Nigeria midfielder, John Obi Mikel, has been accused of attacking a female journalist after she reportedly asked for an interview.
Mikel was leaving a training session with the Nigerian team and was approached by a reporter who was keen to interview him in order to discuss the nation’s upcoming matches, but according to reports, an irrate Chelsea player refused to take part and lashed out at the female.
According to a BBC reporter, the reporter has since forgiven Mikel for his actions, but this is what he originally had to say about the incident.
“A female journalist has claimed #Nigeria’s Mikel Obi assaulted her after training on Monday, when she approached him for an interview. 1/2
“The journalist, who works for Kiss FM in Abuja, said she’s forgiven Mikel Obi after the assault, according to team media officer Ben Alaiya.”
