Chelsea defender, John Terry, will be asked by UEFA to wear a special anti-racism armband, if he is to captain the side in their Champions League game against Shakhter Donetsk on Tuesday night.

This request by UEFA comes after John Terry accepted his punishment for racially abusing QPR’s defender, Anton Ferdinand, which sees him banned for four Premier League matches and also fined ÂŁ220k.

All club captains have been asked by UEFA to wear the ‘United Against Racism’ as the footballing nation continue to battle against racism.

UEFA said in a statement: ‘Every team will be accompanied onto the pitch by children wearing “Unite Against Racism” T-shirts and the captains will be asked to wear a “Unite Against Racism” branded armband.’

Most Premier League players were seen wearing anti-racism shirts at the weekend to support the campaign of kicking racism out of the game. However, Ferdinand brother, Anton and Rio were two of several players that refused to wear the T-shirts.
