Chelsea captain John Terry has confirmed that he is in talks with the club over a new deal.
Due to the club policy of only offering over-30s a one-year deal each Summer, Terry is coming to the end of his current deal, much like Ashley Cole and Frank Lampard are, but the skipper has confirmed that talks are ongoing regarding a new deal.
There was speculation on Terry leaving the club this year in order to gain a longer deal elsewhere, but he has put those rumours to be by revealing his plans to retire at Stamford Bridge.
“Clearly, I want to stay for the rest of my footballing days,” he said.
“At the minute we’re in talks and it’s ongoing. I’m hoping it gets done. It’s down to the club. They know I want to stay.”
