Skipper still adamant he wants to stay at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea defender John Terry has admitted he’s still ‘hopeful’ the club will offer him a new deal.

The club-captain announced moments after they beat MK Dons in the FA Cup that he wouldn’t be staying at the club past this season due to his contract not being extended.

With Terry being over-30, the club have only been offering him 12-month extensions, but they’ve decided against offering him a new one this time around, making him a free agent in the summer.

Despite being linked with a move to the MLS or the Chinese Super League, Terry has once again reiterated his desires to stay at Stamford Bridge, and he’s admitted he’s hopeful a new deal will be offered to him.

Terry Hoping For New Deal

“I’m very hopeful,” he said.

“I’ve been there 21 years and I’ll never kind of give up until it finally happens. But, who knows?

“I’ve still got a lot to give, whether that’s here [Chelsea] or somewhere else, for sure.”
