Liverpool defender undergoes surgery

Liverpool starlet Jon Flanagan is set to miss the next nine months after undergoing knee surgery.

The right-back has missed large parts of the season due to injury and it’s now been revealed that he’s had to have yet another surgery and will now miss the next several months.

According to reports, Flanagan will be out of action for in between six and nine months, so it’s likely that he won’t feature until late this year.

It’s believed the right-back left hospital on Wednesday and will spend the next eight weeks on crutches.

This will come as a massive blow to both the club and the individual as he just made his return to first-team training in March and was feeling hopeful about making a return before the end of the season.

However, this news will see him sidelined under late 2015.

Brendan Rodgers is a massive fan of Flanagan and sees him as the long-term right-back at Anfield, but this will come as a fresh blow with the 22-year-old expected to be the first-choice for next season.

Glen Johnson is set to leave Liverpool at the end of the season and it’s believed that Flanagan was likely to be his replacement, but Rodgers will now have to look into the transfer market.
