Jones remains confident after weekend win

Following a lacklustre start to their Premier League campaign, holding champions Manchester United have built up an impressive run of form, winning their last 3 league matches and maintaining an unbeaten run of 9 games in all competitions following a hard-fought weekend win against league leaders Arsenal. The victory places United in 5th place, 5 points behind Arsenal, and former Blackburn defender Phil Jones is confident in his team’s ability to repeat last season’s strong finish to win the title:

“When people doubt us we are more than capable of standing up for ourselves and proving to people that is why we were champions last season”

“We weren’t champions for nothing. We thoroughly deserved all the points we got last season.”

This recent form comes after Manchester United’s worst start to their Premier League campaign in 24 years, taking just 11 points from their opening 8 matches. However, the 21 year-old believes that critics are unfairly treating the champions, taking pleasure in their dropped points:

“People want us to fail because we have won the league so many times – everyone hates the best clubs”

Manchester United next face Cardiff away after the international break, where they’ll be looking to maintain their recent winning trend.
