Reds starlet reportedly snubs new deal

Liverpool Football Club have been dealt yet another massive blow after reports emerged that Jordan Ibe has rejected a new contract from the club.

The 19-year-old has broken into the first-team picture at Anfield after a successful loan spell at Championship side Derby County, but according to reports, he has rejected a contract extension from officials.

Contract Refusals at Anfield

If reports turn out to be true, Ibe will become the FOURTH player this season to snub a contract extension from Liverpool.

Raheem Sterling and Martin Skrtel have both snubbed extensions so far this season, whilst Jordan Henderson also turned down a new deal earlier this season. However, the vice-captain has since changed his mind and has put pen to paper on a long-term contract.

Salary Trebled

According to reports, Ibe was offered a new deal worth around ÂŁ25k-a-week, which is over treble what he currently earns. The teenager’s current salary is ÂŁ7k-a-week.

Ibe is expected to have a bright future after emerging on the scene this year and Brendan Rodgers is desperate to keep hold of him for the foreseeable future, especially with doubts over Sterling.

Worries Over Sterling

The Liverpool winger has put his house up for sale in Merseyside and is reportedly looking for properties in London, with both Arsenal and Chelsea interested in signing him.

If Sterling were to leave Anfield, Ibe would be seen as a potential replacement, but the latest news will come as a massive blow and shock to Rodgers and the Liverpool board.
