Manchester United have also shown strong interest in him
Both Manchester City and Manchester United have shown their interest in signing Napoli’s midfielder Jorginho this summer. The player’s agent have also met both clubs to discuss over a potential transfer during a recent visit to England.
Jose Mourinho has prioritized signing a holding midfielder this transfer window. Michael Carrick is set to retire at the end of the season and Marouane Fellaini is also expected to leave on a free transfer, which will result in a huge gap in the midfield. The Portuguese has been impressed by Jorginho’s display in Italy and is planning to bid for him.
Pep Guardiola also is still keen to add reinforcements this summer and he also wants to buy a holding midfielder. He has realized that the club is too dependent on Fernandinho and wants to provide back up to him. City have added Jorginho to their list which includes Bayern Munich’s Thiago Alcantara and Shakhtar Donetsk’s Fred.
The 27 year old is known for his composure and versatility and plays as a deep lying playmaker, which fits the bill for both the manager.
But United is set to suffer a blow in their pursuit of Napoli star. The midfielder would prefer to join Manchester City over their local rivals Manchester United, according to  The Sun .
This could be a huge blow for United and now may have to look elsewhere.
