Jose Mourinho has settled his long standing tax case as he has agreed to a one year prison sentence after he was found guilty of evading taxes to Spanish authority. However, The Manchester United manager is not going to spend any time in prison as first time offenders don’t need to serve jail sentences of two years and less.

The Portuguese gaffer was accused of avoiding tax on his image rights in the tune of €1.9 million and had decided to pay a fine. Six months prison sentence each for two financial crimes has been agreed between Mourinho’s legal team and Spanish tax authorities.

A number of football players with the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo were charged with tax fraud and all of them got rid of the case by agreeing to pay a large sum of fine.

Mourinho got convicted in this case and the verdict was due for long following his attendance in a Madrid court last year. The United gaffer has endured a tough season as the Red Devils lost back to back matches against Brighton & Hove Albion and Tottenham Hotspur. But they got back to winning ways as they got the better of Burnley in the last match.
