Accusations have been made that Chelsea boss said Eva Carneiro is a ‘daughter of a whore’

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has been accused of calling former-club doctor Eva Carneiro ‘a daughter of a whore’.

The duo have been investigated by the FA over the past few weeks after they had a major fall-out following Chelsea‘s 2-2 draw with Swansea City on the opening day of the Premier League campaign.

Carneiro was heavily criticised by Mourinho for tending to Eden Hazard‘s injury, leaving the team with just nine-men on the field due to an earlier red card to Thibaut Courtois.

After the game Mourinho called Carneiro a distraction and stated she doesn’t understand the game. He then later banned her from match-days and demoted her within the club.

However, later accusations came out about Mourinho and it’s reported that he used sexist words against the club doctor after she returned from treating the winger.

According to Mourinho, he said the words ‘filho da puta’, which in Portuguese means ‘son of a bitch’, however, after reviewing video footage and with the help of a native Portuguese speaker, it’s believed Mourinho called Carneiro ‘a daughter of a whore.’

The FA received the following complaint about the incident and they are now currently looking into the saga.

Full Complaint

‘We understand that the manager allegedly calls Eva “Filha da Puta” at pitchside,’ says the complaint.

‘The abuse is allegedly directed to her because “Filha” is feminine and singular in Portuguese and to be directed at a man or at a group of people would have to be “Filho” or “Filhos”.

‘Additonally it could be considered that the offensive comment was aimed at the club doctor specifically as she speaks Portuguese. By all accounts, the equivalent to this expression in English would be “son of a bitch” in the masculine, but “daughter of a whore” in the feminine.

‘We have been advised by a native Portuguese speaker that when directed to a man, it is usually taken to mean that he is a person without scruples. However, in Portugal a woman would take this as being compared to a prostitute or being the daughter of one. Therefore it is considered an extremely offensive insult to be directed to a woman.’
