Jose Mourinho and Alan Pardew wants transfer deadline changed

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew and Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho both believe that the transfer deadline should be before the Premier League season gets underway.

The current deadline is early September, which is a few weeks after the new campaign begins and that seems to annoy the managers.

Pardew is especially annoyed at the deadline being after the season starts after Arsenal bid ÂŁ10million for Yohan Cabaye the day of their opening game against Manchester City, which they eventually went on to lose 4-0.

Cabaye didn’t feature for Newcastle despite travelling with the club to Manchester and Pardew admitted that he didn’t play because he wasn’t in the right frame of mind after Arsenal’s bid.

After the game, Pardew said the following:

“There is a question about the window being closed before we kick off the Premier League season,” he said.

“I know the Premier League asked the European leagues to do it and they wouldn’t fall in line.

“But after the summer we have had, the situations we have had, with Wayne Rooney as well, it is definitely something they need to put under the microscope again.”

Not only is Pardew confused about the deadline day, Mourinho is as well and he admits it would probably be best if the deadline was before the season gets underway.

The Chelsea boss also admitted that he is still interested in Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney.

‘Nothing has changed (on Rooney). At a certain point I agree with Pardew. The transfer window goes too far – the third, fourth week of the season. That is too far,’ he said.

‘But at the same point gives everyone a chance to be in the market when they are winning or losing points. We are trying to bring one more player and we will try until the end.

‘We do have a plan B and C, but I won’t name names as it is difficult for me to talk about other club’s players.’
