Alexis Sanchez’s Manchester United career might have got a lift following his winner in the last match against Newcastle United and according to reports, manager Jose Mourinho wants to deploy the player in a new role.
Since his January move, The Chilean international has been struggling to get the rhythm back but against Newcastle we witnessed a bit of old Sanchez as he fought hard for the balls, dropped deep and made some delightful runs behind the defence line.
Mourinho has mostly used the player on the wings but against the Magpies Sanchez operated mostly centrally as the 29 year old found his old form back to edge Newcastle in a thriller.
Arsene Wenger had used him in a more prominent centre forward role and the Portuguese might emulate it at the Old Trafford. Romelu Lukaku has been brilliant with his hold up play and aerial threat but Sanchez’s assistance might ease up the pressure on him.
Sanchez’s lack of form has been a matter of concern for the club hierarchy as he is the club’s highest paid player and it would be a big boost for them if Mourinho manages to grind out the best from him.
