Jose Mourinho criticises Luis Suarez

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has accused Liverpool striker Luis Suarez of diving ‘acrobatically’ throughout their encounter yesterday evening.

The Blues eventually went on to win the game 2-1, despite going 1-0 down early on thanks to a Martin Skrtel goal. But goals from Eden Hazard and Samuel Eto’o turned the game on it’s head and gave the hosts the crucial three-points.

However, the game was covered in controversy as it appeared that matchday official Howard Webb made numerous errors throughout the game.

Eto’o should have been sent off after two minutes for a knee-high tackle on Jordan Henderson, whilst both teams should have been awarded spot-kicks, but both were missed by Webb.

After the game, Mourinho was asked about Liverpool’s penalty appeal when Suarez appeared to be taken out by Eto’o, but the Portuguese defended his striker and accused the Uruguayan of play-acting.

“It is not a tackle. Suarez lost the duel with Azpilicueta, who has the ball and is leaving the box,” said Mourinho.

“Now he is doing an acrobatic swimming pool jump to try to get a penalty.”

He added: “He is so clever because he also knows he is in the area with the Liverpool supporters behind him.

“But [referee Howard] Webb is 10 metres away and I think the only mistake he did was not to give him a yellow card.”
