Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has revealed his desire for new signings at Stamford Bridge, before the transfer window ends.

The Premier League title-holders have confirmed deals for Radamel Falcao and goalkeeper Asmir Begovic already this summer – as the Blues prepare to defend their crown when the kick-off the season at home to Swansea City on Saturday.

Mourinho still wants to add to his current crop of players, specifically another left-back, having sold Filipe Luis back to Atletico Madrid.

Chelsea are in the market for highly-rated Augsburg defender, Baba Raheem, as well as Tottenham Hotspur’s Danny Rose.

The West-Londoners have also been frustrated in their recent attempts to sign Everton’s England international, John Stones.

Mourinho speaks out

The Portuguese native reiterated his intention to sign new talent, as Chelsea look to go in-defence of their title.

“We need a left-back, the board know that and my feeling is that we are going to have one,” Mourinho said.

He also predicts the top-flight will be much closer than last season – with Chelsea running away with the league last season, winning it by eight times.

“I believe the teams who aren’t title contenders will be stronger,” he added.

“The gap between the top and others will be shorter.”
