Jose Mourinho Denied PSG Job For Demanding Authority Over Neymar

Jose Mourinho was reportedly approached by Paris Saint-Germain for the managerial seat.

The former Manchester United boss wanted assurances of complete authority over club’s stars like Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.

PSG had considered Mourinho to replace Thomas Tuchel but after hearing the Portuguese’s demands, they never got back in touch with him. The Parisians were lining him up to replace the German in fear of him leaving after only one season.

Managers in the past have had to endure certain restrictions while leading this particular PSG team, as was exposed by Unai Emery. The Arsenal boss revealed to the press after being fired from his post at Paris that certain players had the power to go over the manager’s head.

Mourinho, of course, wanted no part of that after the incident he faced at Manchester United with Paul Pogba. The former Real Madrid boss has made it clear that he will approach negotiations differently for his next job.

“My next job will be at a club with the right structure – I don’t want conflict,” he was quoted to have said earlier. Mourinho did get linked with the vacant position at Juventus but reports claim that Maurizio Sarri is closer to acquiring that position.

Thomas Tuchel has instead chosen to extend his PSG contract till the summer of 2021.
