Chelsea manager rules out any potential move for the Everton defender

Jose Mourinho has revealed that he is happy with his current squad, and feels no need to sign Everton’s central-defender, John Stones.

The current Premier League title-holders have signed Asmir Begovic from Stoke City, along with former Manchester United loanee Radamel Falcao, who has also penned a year-long loan stay at Stamford Bridge, from Monaco.

Youngsters Kenedy, Nathan and Danilo Pantic, have also joined Chelsea this summer.

However, one target that is now seemingly out of reach is Everton’s 21-year-old defender, John Stones, who is set to remain on Merseyside, despite strong interest from Chelsea.

MOURINHO HAPPY WITH HIS CURRENT SQUAD

The Blues initial £20m bid for Stones was subsequently rebuffed by Roberto Martinez at the Toffees, with Everton valuing the former Barnsley man at £34m.

“You are speaking with the manager of the best team in England – we don’t have fragilities,” he said.

Speaking on the West Londoners pre-season tour of the United States, Mourinho stated that he is happy with his current squad.

“We don’t have fragilities – we are a top team, we have top players.

“We started training six days ago – we did 11 training sessions in six days.

“We don’t need other players – we trust these players, these players are good.

“We play 10 times against Red Bull, we win nine but I’m not worried.”
