Jose Mourinho is confident Manchester United will break through into the top four by the year end.
United set to host Crystal Palace on Saturday in a bid to cut the gap with league leaders Manchester City. The Red Devils had a gilt edged chance to ramp up the pressure but couldn’t deliver as their archrivals outclassed them in a 3-1 defeat at the Etihad stadium.
Pressure is mounting on Mourinho and a win against Roy Hodgson’s men will ease things for the time being. The Eagles are currently winless in the last seven matches and will definitely fancy their chances on United’s home turf.
They finished 19 points behind champion Manchester City last season but the second place is looking a distant dream. United have had an erratic run in the top flight but the former Chelsea gaffer thinks they will be in the top four by January.
“It is a big gap but I know that until the end of December we have eight Premier League matches to play.
“If I’m not wrong I think there are eight.
“We are speaking about 24 points for us to fight for and the other teams that are in the top four. I believe we are going to be there.”
