Real Madrid have been pretty disappointing this season and their performances have been quite lackluster lately. Los Blancos have lost their last four home matches. This includes a 1-2 defeat against Girona who are 9th in the league table.

This has piled up a lot of pressure on Santiago Solari and it seems quite unlikely that Real Madrid will appoint him on a permanent basis next season.

Real Madrid need an experienced and world-class manager and Jose Mourinho fits into these attributes quite well. One of the best managers in the world, Mourinho has managed Real Madrid once from 2010-13. During that spell, Mourinho guided Real Madrid to three titles that included a La Liga title.

Mourinho’s managerial career so far has been pretty remarkable. So far, the Portuguese has won 25 trophies as a manager. Starting from 2002, there hasn’t been a single club Mourinho managed that did not win any trophies under him. He has won at least three titles in all clubs he managed from 2002 onwards.

Mourinho’s caliber and his past experience with the club has made him a heavy favorite to become Real manager next season provided Solari doesn’t get the job. Yesterday, former President Ramon Calderon said that Mourinho is the first choice to become Real’s next manager.

Only time will tell if Solari will become Real’s manager on a permanent basis or the club will give the job to Mourinho or someone else.
