Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho felt that the reaction of Manchester United supporters after the 3-0 loss to Tottenham was key to the team having a positive mindset for the match against Burnley. Manchester United were back to winning ways by beating Burnley 2-0 thanks to a brace from Romelu Lukaku. The Red Devils had a very good chance to make the score 3-0 when they won a penalty. However, Burnley goalkeeper Joe Hart saved Paul Pogba’s spot-kick.

Following the match, Mourinho said, “The quality of the performance and the happiness within the team is Old Trafford’s responsibility. The reaction after the game at Tottenham was fundamental to keep the team moving in the right direction.”

Jose Mourinho also expressed his delight at the number of shots his team had on goal- 21. He said, “In the first 10 minutes we played so well that it reminded me of the Tottenham game because we were dominating opponents – but this time we scored. Should we score six, seven and eight? Yes we should. But at least we scored two and the team was strong, defensively very good. Even with 10 men we were the team that had chances to score. We are very happy the boys can go on their international break with the feeling of a good result.”

Manchester United’s next match is against Watford on September 15.
