Jose Mourinho says Victor Lindelof is a good guy amid rumours that Manchester United came close to signing the Benfica defender in January.
The 22-year-old has played 52 games for Benfica since making his debut back in 2012 but he was heavily linked with a move to the Premier League in the January transfer window – with Chelsea also being reported as interested.
Marcos Rojo and Phil Jones formed a good partnership in the centre of United’s defence though and Lindelof’s switch fell through and he penned a contract extension with Benfica last month.
However, Mourinho has admitted he is a keen admirer of the Sweden international as he looks to bring in a couple more fresh faces in the summer.
“Obviously, I know all the players in Portugal,” Mourinho told Swedish news organisation Viasat when asked about the centre-half.
Mourinho continued to hail the Swede who has been solid in the Primeira Liga this term.
“Yes, he’s a good guy.” Mourinho added.
