Jose Mourinho slams Manchester United players as he felt his team was not up to the mark defensively in the first half.

United maintained their winning juggernaut in the Premier League as they came from behind to register a crucial victory at the Vitality stadium. Callum Wilson gave the home side a fantastic start as he netted home very early to provide a much needed breakthrough to the Cherries.

Eddie Howe’s men looked to be in complete control of the match but an Anthony Martial goal against the course of the match eased things a bit for the visiting side. Bournemouth kept their pressure but the Red Devils managed to hold their fort till the break.

But in the second half the story was completely different as United came with all guns blazing and their effort paid off as Marcus Rashford tapped in from a Paul Pogba cross in the injury time to get the side back on track.

The gaffer said, “To be 1-1 in a half where it should be like 5-2 or 6-2 — we were really lucky because we were really poor.

“Defensively awful. Absolutely awful. And when I say defensively, I don’t just look to my defenders, I look to the team. As a team we didn’t start pressing up, the work that we did during the week — I felt like people watching this game, they don’t believe how hard we trained this week … The first half was a disaster.

“Then in the second half was exactly the opposite. We created lots of chances, we pressed higher. We had much more aggression, intensity, intention. We deserved to score before the minute 90-something. And in the end, we have this goal that gives us important points.”
