Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has once again taken a swipe at midfielder Eden Hazard after he revealed that the Belgium should work harder for the team next season.
The Belgium international has been a star performer for The Blues this season, but took a swipe at the club’s tactics after they lost 3-1 to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League semi-final, comments that weren’t received well by manager Jose Mourinho.
Hazard admitted that the side do not play football enough and try to defend too much, which Mourinho commented on by saying that the midfielder doesn’t work hard enough for the team to make such a comment.
Mourinho handed over an award to Hazard on Monday evening, but during his speech, he admitted that he expects more from him next season.
“Next season we want more from you.” Mourinho said.
Although these comments may be a blow to Hazard, it clearly identifies the fact that Mourinho wants to keep him at Stamford Bridge, and later that night, Hazard confirmed himself that he wants to remain in London.
“It was a great season for me and I’m happy to play for Chelsea,” he added. “I’m enjoying this city. I live in Cobham. It’s easy.”
