Should manager join Manchester United, Blues would save around ÂŁ45million
Chelsea could be given a massive finance boost should former-manager Jose Mourinho take over at Manchester United.
The Blues sacked the Portuguese back in December following a 2-1 defeat to Leicester City, which left them 16th in the Premier League.
Despite winning the title just a few months prior to that, Roman Abramovich and Bruce Beck agreed enough was enough and sacked Mourinho for a second time in his career.
However, the Chelsea board agreed to continue paying Mourinho’s contract whilst he was unemployed, meaning they would still pay him ÂŁ250k-a-week.
Cash Boost
Should Mourinho take over at Old Trafford as expected, replacing Louis van Gaal, it means Abramovich would no longer have to pay his former-boss, meaning the West London club would save around ÂŁ45.5million.
That’s how much Chelsea would have to fork out for Mourinho should he stay unemployed for the next three-and-a-half years, but with the United job set to become his, it looks like Chelsea will receive a timely financial boost.
