Jose Mourinho wants to seal Frank Lampard deal

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is ready to open contract talks with veteran midfielder Frank Lampard, just a day after the club confirmed captain John Terry had put pen-to-paper.

The two Englishmen, along with Ashley Cole, are playing on 12-month contracts due to a club policy which sees any player over the age of 30 only be offered one-year deals every Summer, but with Cole set to leave the club, it could just be Terry and Lampard staying at Stamford Bridge.

Terry signed his 12-month deal yesterday, much to the delight of the fans and the club, and now Mourinho is keen to wrap up Lampard’s future as well.

It’s believe the club are confident they can keep hold of Lampard, but despite Mourinho wanting to keep hold of left-back, Cole, there is a feeling within the camp that he may have played his last game for the club after a lack of first-team appearances throughout the season.
