Chelsea urged not to sell Brazilian

Former Chelsea favourite Bolo Zenden has urged Jose Mourinho to keep hold of prized midfielder Oscar.

Reports suggest that the 23-year-old Brazilian football player is set to be put up for sale this summer, as the West Londoners look to overhaul their current squad.

Despite having prolific campaigns in his previous seasons’ at the Bridge, Oscar has found it hard to nail down a place in Chelsea’s star-studded line-up, having failed to complete 90 minutes since January, as Mourinho appears to favour summer signing, Cesc Fabregas, who netted the winner in Sunday’s 1-0 win away at Queens Park Rangers.

But Zenden, who represented Chelsea between 2001-2004, hopes that Jose Mourinho will decide upon keeping the midfielder, who signed from Internacional in 2012.

“I obviously worked with Oscar and I think he is a great player,” Zenden told talkSPORT.

“When he first came over he had to adapt to the Premier League and he wasn’t very strong physically, but he can put a shift in.

“He runs a lot, he works hard, he scores his goals, he sets up his teammates. He is a fantastic player.

“I wouldn’t sell him. It is not for nothing that Oscar plays for Brazil as well, which is a massive, strong side.”

FOREIGN INTEREST?

Recent reports suggest that Oscar could potentially be on his way to continental Europe in the summer, with French side PSG joining Serie A side Juventus as an interested party, who are willing to pay big money for him.

It is thought that Chelsea would want to recoup the  £20million in which they paid for Oscar when he signed for the club, as Premier league rivals Liverppol are also rumoured to be keen.
