Chelsea defender John Terry has backed Jose Mourinho’s decisions to sell Juan Mata to Manchester United and David Luiz to Paris Saint-Germain.

The duo left Stamford Bridge in big-money moves with Mata leaving for ÂŁ37million and Luiz leaving for ÂŁ50m and Terry believes that is one of Mourinho’s biggest traits, making the correct calls at the correct time.

Many fans were shocked to see Mata and Luiz leave, especially with the former joining a fierce-rival, but the club’s skipper has come out and admitted that the right decisions were made even if the duo are impressing with their new clubs.

In fact, Luiz played a massive part in eliminating Chelsea from this year’s Champions League, but Terry is still adamant that the deals were the right ones for the club.

He told The Sun: “He wants the best out of everyone on a daily basis.

“You look at some of the world-class players we’ve had, Juan Mata, David Luiz, players like that who’ve left the club.

“He’s seen something — I don’t know what — to let those big players go.

“So again, he makes big judgment calls and he gets them right.

“He also knows when players take their foot off the gas.

“He can sense something before the game. He just gets a feel for everyone and every single game.

“And I look at that and think no one else that I’ve experienced as a manager has got that.”
