Quintero reveals his desire to stay at River Plate after Copa Libertadores glory

Juan Fernando Quintero earned legendary status at River Plate as the Colombian scored his club’s injury-time winner against Boca Juniors in the final of the Copa Libertadores.

Quintero opened up on his feelings of Copa Libertadores success, his burning desire to stay at River Plate and the rumours linking him with a move to China at a sponsor event.

“It was a year of great glory and learning and I finished it in the best way. It was a very difficult year, I worked extremely hard, and in the end, we were rewarded with the [Copa Libertadores] championship,” he began.

“I’m still not thinking about what my future holds. My day to day is River, I will show up on 5 January and we’ll see what happens.

“I am enjoying my family, my holidays, and that is what matters.”

Quintero also discussed the rumours that he could be sold to a team in China.

“I am very happy at River and am enjoying what I experienced, what I dreamed, and what I prepared for.

“The issue of China or whatever happens, I do not care. I do not focus on that. I have people on my side who take care of that.

“I will have the opportunity to talk to the president of River and the manager and they know my situation.

“I will arrive on the 5th in Argentina, to meet with them, and make it the best for everyone.

“I can not deny that China is a possibility, but in my head, for now, it is not.

“I have a lot of hope in what is going to happen with my career at River or wherever I’m playing.”
