Chelsea midfielder Juan Mata has claimed that he never lost faith in the club, despite being linked with a move away this Summer.
It was clear at the beginning of the season that new manager Jose Mourinho was not that impressed by the Spaniard, despite him winning the club’s player of the year award two seasons in a row.
Mourinho claimed that Mata didn’t have enough versatility to be in his starting line-up, but since then, he has used the 25-year-old more frequently.
Speaking to Football Focus on Saturday, Mata admitted that he never lost the faith in the club, despite all the rumours linking him with a move away.
“The manager doesn’t have to explain why one player is playing or not playing.
“I never lose faith, I believe in myself, I know what I can do.”
