Chelsea midfielder Juan Mata has admitted that he is happy at the club despite being linked with a move away all summer.

Since the arrival of new manager Jose Mourinho, Mata’s future was thrown into doubt after the former-Real Madrid manager confirmed that the Spaniard is not a guaranteed starter despite his impressive season last year.

After the comments were made from Mourinho, a whole host of clubs were interested in the 25-year-old and the player’s father was also spotted at the Emirates Stadium watching Arsenal play from the directors box.

Despite the continous links, a move never materialised for Mata and he stayed at Stamford Bridge, something he insists that he is happy about.

“It’s normal in every transfer window that there are lots of rumours but I’m happy here,” Mata told Chelsea TV.

“It’s been a very, very good two seasons for me here, maybe the best of my career, and what I want this season is the same.

“I’m looking forward to achieving as many trophies as we did the last two seasons and hopefully this is going to be a good season for us again.”
