Atletico Madrid right-back Juanfran is ready to sign new contract extension with Atletico Madrid, according to goal.com. The defender insists that signing the contract is just a formality ,with his contract set to expire in june this summer.
The 33 year old has been a great servant for the club throughout the Diego Simeone’s era and has performed at high level constantly for the club. Though he is aware that the first team place is no longer guranteed since the arrival of Sime Vrsaljko’s at the club but he is ready to commit his future and keen to stay at the club.
He returned from a hamstring injury to complete 90 minutes in Atletico’s 2-0 Europa League win at Sporting CP on Thursday.
“I’m going to continue at Atletico,” he said after the Sporting win.
“All that is missing is the signature, which is going to be done shortly.”
He also talked about the upcoming Derby against Real Madrid:
“Winning a derby is very special game,” added Juanfran.
“We are going to put our hearts into it and play to win, to distance ourselves even more from third place and to be expectant of what Barcelona are doing.
“If we lose, we keep second. We’re winners. ”
